This is a close up documenting several stages of my process necessary to creating my butterflies. I have been focusing my energy the past couple months on finishing a collection of butterflies that are at least three layers of color. These are certainly the most complex layering of pattern and color I have done. I really had a wonderful experience designing and carving each of these pieces. They were all very challenging, and with that I discovered so much more about sand carving techniques as well as color behavior when carving and kiln working.
Please check out my butterflies in my portfolio to see the finished work. I have submitted several of those images to Emerge 2014, Bullseye Glass' kiln glass exhibition for emerging artists. I will keep you posted! Wish me luck!
